The Banana Splits goes horror!

Banana Splits goes Horror!

Expect your childhood memories to take a twist!

As a child I would watch this Saturday morning TV show religiously, I never expected to see it again to be honest and certainly not as a horror film.

Warner Bros. has released the trailer for its strange adaptation of 1968’s Hanna Barbera The Banana Splits Adventure Hour, turning it into a Five Nights at Freddy’s clone where the robotic stars go haywire during a kid’s birthday party and decide to go on a killing spree.

The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was a live-action variety show starring a group of giant animals: Fleagle the Beagle, Drooper the Lion, Snorky the Elephant, and Bingo the Gorilla.

Umbrella Academy

Umbrella Academy Season 2

Production for the second season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy is now underway, with the show’s official social media platforms uploading a behind-the-scenes kick off video earlier today. Virtually the entire cast of the show shared quick clips of themselves and their respective scripts ahead of the table read for the season two premiere episode.

Previous reports suggested the second season was going to starting filming in May, but those plans have been changed. A table read would suggest filming is set to begin within the week on the premiere episode. The second season has yet to receive a release date on the streaming giant.

With the first season largely adapting the first Umbrella Academy mini-series The Apocalypse Suite, it’s unclear where the show heads from here. Umbrella Academy co-creator Gerard Way previously mentioned he was sure to send showrunner Steve Blackman any and all work he and artist Gabriel Bã had completed on new comic storylines.

“What I did for Steve Blackman (the showrunner) and the writers in that first writers’ room was to create an eighteen-page document that laid everything out,” Way said. “Even of the graphic novels that haven’t come out yet. Which should equal eight when we’re all done. So I gave them the blueprint what happens because you do want to seed certain things in there for future series and the hope is that it’s a success so that you do a lot more of these. They’re very curious what Gabriel [Ba] and I are doing next. We always send them the new comics. They really want to know what’s happening.”

Men in Black: International

Men in Black: International

The film is released, how is it doing ?

Early reports published on Friday (14th June 2019) expect the film to be #1 in the charts during it’s opening weekend. It’s also expected to be the lowest earning to date of the franchise at an estimated $25m opening figure domestic.

Viewers so far are giving it a 44% would recomend

Adults are giving it 3* and the under 12 audience are rating it 4*

Initial expectations for the opening weekend were around $40m which is lower than MIB2 which came in at $69m

It’s important to highlight though that it’s memorial weekend and takings for every film are much lower than expected.

This latest Men in Black sequel is set in the same universe as the first three Barry Sonnenfeld-directed hits, which grossed a combined $1.6 billion worldwide, but centers on a pair of franchise newcomers: hotshot Agent H (Hemsworth) and rookie Agent M (Thompson), who must combat shapeshifting aliens infiltrating the Men in Black.

F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Fate of the Furious) directs from a script by Transformers: The Last Knight scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Men in Black series producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald again produce alongside series executive producer Steven Spielberg (Ready Player One).
